The AHCA consultant manages the administrative licensing and compliance pathway; the Medical or Clinic Director performs the physician or practitioner-governance responsibilities assigned to the director. They are complementary roles — one handles the application and administrative survey preparation, the other carries the clinical-governance duties — and neither replaces the other.

What does an AHCA consultant handle?
Handles the licensing pathway: the application, renewal and change filings, administrative survey preparation, and licensing correspondence with the agency.
Medical Director / MFMD
Handles the accepted statutory director functions: physician governance, clinical systems, the applicable reviews, clinical corrective action, and Medical Director participation in the survey.
Why should the consultant and Medical Director roles be kept distinct?
Keeping the roles clear avoids gaps — the administrative filing being complete does not mean the clinical-governance duties are being performed, and vice versa.
